Hi my name is Sylvia Koekkoek and I am the owner and grower of Mountain View Greenhouse. I am thrilled to be supplying the Kootenays with flower baskets and planters. You may be wondering where this all began and it’s quite a wonderful story! My family and I are originally from Vancouver Island. I was a farmer and operated five greenhouses, growing rhododendrons. I loved farming and growing, but after 45 years on the Island we felt led to move. So here we are... in the Kootenays! After trying on retirement, it wasn’t for me. This is where Mountain View Greenhouse is born. It first came out of a dream and soon the puzzle pieces started falling into place. A grower in Canal Flatts was retiring from growing flower baskets and sold a greenhouse and everything we would need to get started. And so it begins! After a year of preparations, research and a lot of prayer we are ready to open up to the public. This new adventure is not a solo journey. My family has been cheering me on all along the way, and as you venture with us you will see them working alongside me. I am passionate about growing and am looking forward to sharing my passion with you. We will be selling 12” and 14” inch flower baskets in a variety of color combinations. We will also have patio pots and planters. Not only will we supply you with flower baskets, but we will teach you the best care methods so your flowers will stay beautiful all season long.
